Earlier this month, Alma Law announced their support of Chris Feeley, who suffered catastrophic spinal injuries in 2004 during an accident at work.
Inspired to get more active, Chris set himself the challenge of competing in triathlons, and in the last two weeks has added two new trophies to his collection!
On the 11th September, Chris competed at The British Triathlon Grand Finale at Mallory Park in Leicestershire.
The 2021 Para Super Series comprised two events, with 40 athletes taking part across the series. Only those who had raced at both were eligible for the overall series positions.
The first event was the British Paratriathlon Championships at Dorney Lake, with the Grand Finale the second and, for the first time in a national paratriathlon series, prize money was awarded to the overall series winners with PTVI guides also receiving a share of the prize money. The Paratriathlon race consisted of a 375m swim, 10.8km bike course, and 2.5km run course.
Chris came first and was the overall winner in the British Triathlon Para super series (Male PTWC).
Following his success, Chris became the first ever disabled athlete to enter and compete at IRONMAN Weymouth 70.3 on Sunday 19th September.
The course consists of a 1.2 mile open water swim, a 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 miles in his race chair.
“By far the toughest triathlon I have taken on. There was a huge possibility I wasn’t going to make the strict cut off time in each section, only making the gruelling bike course with 3 minutes to spare!”
“Big thanks to IRONMAN England, the race director and all the organisers and volunteers for making it possible for me to enter and ensuring everything was in place for me to compete on a level with every other athlete on the day.”
“What an amazing feeling to go up the red carpet to the finish line with a massive roar from the crowd and the most amazing sense of achievement with my wife, children and parents waiting to give me my finisher medal. And with Grant Evatt, top man at Alma Law Ltd, and my sponsor, cheering me on at various parts of the course and seeing his beaming smile at the end, topped off an amazing day!” - Chris Feeley
“Chris Feeley is a gifted athlete and fantastic human being. You are an example to us all. Enjoy your success.” – Grant Evatt
We’re delighted and incredibly proud of Chris and look forward to supporting him and cheering him on at future events!
