On Christmas Eve 2007, whilst serving on operations in Afghanistan with 40 Commando Royal Marines, Mark was blown up by an improvised explosive device, resulting in the traumatic amputation of both legs and his right arm.

He is an internationally acclaimed motivational speaker, peak performance coach, author of the award-winning autobiography ‘Man Down’, role model to other amputees and an ambassador for the Royal Marines Association who support Royal Marines and their families through life.

Grant is also a member of the Royal Marines Association.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity provides servicemen and women, veterans and military families with crucial, face-to-face guidance and support.

As a former Beneficiary of SSAFA, Grant is proud to volunteer for the charity and is the past Secretary of the Hampshire branch of SSAFA.

For 30 years, Tusk has supported forward-thinking and successful conservation intervention in Africa.

The Royal Artillery Association was started on 26 May 1920 by the RA War Commemoration Fund to create a ‘Gunner Friend’ network organisation in every part of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth; in essence to create and foster a bond of comradeship irrespective of rank, between all who are serving or who have ever served as artillerymen and to maintain and promote the proud traditions of ‘Ubique’. It was also designed to watch and help those in need or distress and maintain contact with old comrades. It raised its money from annual and life subscriptions and after running costs funds were used to further the aims of the Association. Her Majesty The Queen is the Patron.

"I actually had met with a couple of different solicitors before I met Grant, but as soon as I met with Grant he put me at ease and I knew I wanted him to help me. I was facing a huge and incredibly daunting journey into an intimidating world I didn’t understand. He was very professional, and I completely trusted his advice but he was also very easy to get on with, very friendly and approachable. Although it was a long and emotional process, it really felt as though Grant was there fighting my corner at every turn and everything felt more manageable because of him. He was always there to lift me up during the hard times and was genuinely there to celebrate with us for the good. Grant is now a very good friend of mine, and me and Amy just want him to know how thankful we are that he helped us draw a line under what could have been a very negative time in my life and helped lay the foundations to move so far away from being stuck in my hospital bed to a life I love living."
