The piece reflects on something I’ve come to believe strongly through both service and practice: military claims are not an entry-level area of personal injury law.

I’m pleased to share that my article has been published in the Law Society Gazette this week.

Much of my work is with former service personnel. For many, the injury itself is only part of the problem. Military service carries its own culture, pressures and reluctance to complain. When people do seek advice, they are often uncertain, vulnerable, and unfamiliar with the process. In that context, experience and sound judgement really matter.

The article explores why specialist military claims demand restraint as much as momentum, why volume-driven approaches risk causing real harm, and why experienced lawyers must be willing to slow cases down, explain risk properly, and sometimes advise against proceeding at all.

Law is a business. But specialist personal injury work — particularly military claims — is about care, clarity and responsibility at a difficult point in a veterans life.
